THINGS TO MAKE SURE TO DRINK AFTER GETTING NEW DENTAL IMPLANTS

After getting dental implants, your mouth is going to be sore. Because you’ve just had a dental implant placed, it’s going to be more vulnerable to infection. That’s why it’s important that you watch what you drink.

You may not feel like eating or drinking much at all, but your body is going to need nutrients to heal. You also don’t want to become dehydrated. Here are some of the things you should be sure to drink after receiving your dental implant.

Table of Contents:

WATER
MILK
MAKE A SMOOTHIE

WATER

It should go without saying that water should be your drink of choice not just after getting a dental implant but all the time. Water will help wash away any bacteria and other debris caught in your teeth. It will also keep you hydrated and won’t harm your stitches at all.

MILK

As long as you’re not lactose-intolerant, milk is a good beverage. It contains a good amount of nutrients that help build bones. If you don’t like plain milk, there’s nothing wrong with chocolate or strawberry. Just remember that flavored milks do contain sugar, so don’t drink them to excess.

MAKE A SMOOTHIE

Smoothies are great for recovering from any type of dental procedure. One tip is to avoid using any fruits that are full of seeds, such as raspberries or strawberries. Those little seeds could get stuck in your teeth or around the implant site. If you find that eating hurts too much or that you’re simply not hungry (which can happen when your mouth hurts), smoothies are a good way of making sure you get the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

It’s important that you do keep your strength up while recovering from getting a dental implant. While you might not feel like it, you do need to be sure to drink plenty of fluids. If you have any questions about what you should eat or drink, give us a call.
