The benefits of teeth in a day

Losing your teeth has several significant effects on the functions of your mouth, your oral health, and your quality of life. Biting and chewing become more challenging. Your speech suffers, as does your smile. Tooth loss also leads to bone loss in the jaw, which can cause the jaw to change shape, altering your bite and your facial features. Dental implants have become a popular treatment for replacing missing teeth, providing several incredible benefits. However, it can take several months before your final restorations are placed. At Beyond Dental and Implant Center, we can eliminate the wait with Teeth in a Day.

Modern tooth replacement with dental implants

Traditionally, missing teeth have been replaced with dentures or bridges. While still popular options today, there is another option available, dental implants. Dental implants use small titanium posts, which are surgically placed into your jawbone, to provide support for your replacement teeth. Your bone fuses to the posts as you heal, turning them into stable roots that hold your dental restorations securely in place.

How are implants usually placed?

Dental implants are placed in a surgical procedure, which is done under a local anesthetic. Sedation may also be provided if you are feeling anxious. Your sedation options are discussed during your initial consultation.

The surgery begins with incisions in your gums, which exposes the bone underneath. We then drill holes into the bone. The implant posts are immediately placed inside these holes, and your gums are sutured closed around them.

In a typical implant procedure, temporary teeth would be placed after your gums have been sutured closed around the posts. These temporary teeth remain in place during your recovery period, which, depending upon your situation, could take anywhere from several weeks to several months to complete.

Once you have fully healed, the process of placing your final restorations would begin. First, the temporary teeth are removed and abutments, or connectors, are placed. Impressions would then be taken and sent to a dental lab, where they would be used to custom-create your final restorations. This process could take up to two weeks to complete. A second visit would then be required to check the restorations for fit and bite before being screwed into place on the posts.

Getting your restorations in one day

With Teeth in a Day, your final restorations are placed on the same day as your implant surgery, eliminating the need for temporary teeth as well as the additional appointments, and waiting, for your final teeth to be created. However, how is this possible? Rather than taking your impressions after you heal from implant surgery, we take them before your surgical appointment. Using specialized software, we can design and create your custom teeth before your implants are evenly placed. When you arrive on the day of your surgical appointment, your final restorations are waiting for you. After the placement of your implant posts, the final restorations are screwed into place, allowing you to leave your appointment with your final teeth in place.

The benefits of teeth in a day

Teeth in a Day provide all of the same incredible benefits as regular dental implants. This particular procedure also provides some of its unique benefits as well.

• You do not need temporary teeth.
• Fewer office visits. Because your final restorations are placed during surgery, you do not need the additional appointments after you heal for placement.
• Patients who get Teeth in a Day typically experience less pain and swelling during the recovery process.
• With Teeth in a Day, healing is often faster.
