Tooth loss can occur as a result of some different issues. One of the most common issues is gum disease. You may also lose teeth as a result of facial trauma, bruxism, or severe tooth decay. Losing teeth has several impacts on your life. In addition to affecting your ability to bite and chew, losing several teeth can affect your speech, your smile, and the health of your jawbone. Replacing missing teeth is essential for giving you back all of the functions of those teeth and your quality of life. At Beyond Dental and Implant Center, we can replace several missing teeth with multiple tooth implants.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a treatment designed to replace missing teeth. They are a modern solution, providing an alternative to traditional bridges and dentures. This treatment consists of three components, the posts, the abutments, and the dental restorations. The posts are made from titanium and are surgically placed in your jawbone. The abutments, or connectors, are placed on top of the posts and are there to provide stability for your restorations. Dental restorations, or ceramic crowns, replace the visible surfaces of your missing teeth. As you heal from surgery, your bone fuses to the posts, turning them into stable roots that are then able to hold your dental restorations securely in place.

Placing your multiple-tooth implant

Placing dental implants requires a surgical procedure. For a multiple-tooth implant, the exact number of posts you need depends upon your specific situation. Before surgery begins, we administer a local anesthetic and provide sedation if necessary. We then make incisions in your gums, which provides us with access to your jawbone. Small holes are drilled into the bone, and the posts are placed inside. Finally, your gums are sutured closed around the posts, and temporary teeth are placed. If you are receiving treatment with Teeth in a Day, your final restorations, which are created before surgery, are screwed into place.

Healing from surgery can take several weeks to several months. During this time, your bone fuses to the posts in a natural process called osseointegration. This process stabilizes the posts in your jaw. Several follow-ups help to ensure that the process is going smoothly and there are no complications. Once you have fully healed, if you have not received Teeth in a Day, we then begin the process of placing your final restorations. This process typically requires an additional two appointments. At the first appointment, the temporary teeth are removed, and abutments are placed. Next, impressions are taken, which are sent to the dental lab. After the restorations are complete, they are checked for fit and bite and secured into place.

Why get a multiple-tooth implant?

There are numerous benefits to a multiple-tooth implant. Benefits include:

Perfect restoration of your smile. The ceramic crowns perfectly blend in with your natural teeth, providing you with a seamless restoration.

• Your speech is perfectly restored. You do not need to worry about relearning how to speak.
• You can eat all of your favorite foods. Your restorations are held securely in place and will not slip out of place or fall out.
• Greater comfort. Your restorations are supported by the implant posts rather than your gums or adjacent teeth.
• Ease of care. The restorations can be brushed and flossed like your real teeth and do not need to be removed for additional care.
• Preservation of your jawbone. The posts provide stimulation for your jawbone, helping to maintain its health and strength.
